Healthy Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Banana Shake
Chocolate, peanut butter, banana and coconut ... a combination made in milkshake heaven! This cold, creamy treat is so decadent and delicious, you'll forget it's actually good for you.
As a protein-rich food, peanut butter makes you feel fuller, longer. Plus, along with bananas is a great source of calcium. It is a energy booster and rich in fiber. Cocoa powder is packed with antioxidants that destroy free radicals, the chemicals that accelerate aging, inflammation and increase the potential for a range of diseases. This shake also includes coconut water, almond milk and dates—which all have incredible health benefits.
All the health benefits aside, this shake is so rich and creamy that it makes for the most amazing dessert.
You're taste buds will never guess it's good for you.
I love to make it mid-afternoon when I'm craving something sweet and need a mid-day pick-me-up.
Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Shake 1 frozen banana 3 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder 2 pitted dates 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 3/4 cup coconut water 3/4 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk 1 1/2 cups ice
Put all ingredients in blender and blend on medium until smooth. Add more coconut water if too thick. Optional: Top with Coconut Whipped Cream (recipe below), cocoa powder and unsweetened shredded coconut. Makes 2 servings.
Coconut Whipped Cream 1 (15 ounce) can full-fat coconut milk, cold 1 tablespoon powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla Flip your cold can of coconut milk upside down and open it. There should be around 1/2 cup of coconut water at the top. Pour this into a container and save for another use. Scoop out the coconut cream and place in a bowl of an electric mixer. Whip the cream for 3 to 5 minutes, until soft peaks form. Beat in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
