12 Days of Christmas: A French Themed Cocktail Party
On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me … Three French Champagne cocktails Two sugar cookie turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tart!
The holidays are all about getting together with the ones you love. I love entertaining and having people over but sometimes a big dinner party is overwhelming for not only you but your guests too (who might have several different parties to attend in one weekend). That's why I love having a small intimate cocktail hour where friends can just stop in and then head to their next affair.
For the third installment of my "12 Days of Christmas" series, I used the "3 French Hens" line as inspiration for a French themed cocktail party. I have to tell you this turned out to be one of my favorite ideas to date. It feels really special for the holidays without being completely Christmas themed—you could really do it any time of the year. Plus, it totally includes all of my favorite things! Tulips, Champagne, macaroons, and Chanel. You're welcome.
For centerpieces, I took square glass containers and made them look like Chanel No. 5 perfume bottles. Here's how:
First, download this Chanel label jpeg and print onto a white piece of card stock on your home computer. Cut it into a perfect square and adhere it to a square glass vase with double-sided tape. Fill the vase with simple white and green French Tulips (I got these from the grocery store).
Since it is a cocktail party a signature drink is a must. And what is more French than Champagne and Chambord?
For this Champagne cocktail, simply add 1 oz Chambord to a Champagne flute and fill with chilled Champagne. Garnish with a raspberry. I served mine in Juliska Champagne flutes from The Registry (another one of my absolute favorite things).
Want to really blow your guests away? Give mini Chamboard bottles and/or Sophie Champagne cans as favors.
Pick up macaroons from The Painted Cupcake or make these delicious truffles, both are perfect pairings with Champagne and SO FRENCH. Play some French music and your guests are sure to be transported to Paris for the evening!
