Summer S’mores Party
Among my favorite things about being a kid were the campfires my family built on cool summer evenings. I remember how we would search the yard for the perfect sticks that we would later use to toast fluffy marshmallows. Once their snow-white skins turned golden brown and their insides gooey, we'd sandwich them together with chocolate bars between graham crackers and devour the fire-kissed confections always asking for “s’more.”
Turns out the likability of s’mores extends far beyond childhood fantasies. I’ve never met an adult that can resist the goodness of a warm marshmallow-chocolate-cookie sandwich. Even major brands are catching on to the “s’mores craze” with Nabisco releasing S’mores Oreos and Starbucks rolling out a S'mores Frappuccino this summer. It is the summer of the s’more and I think we should all celebrate.
At your next dinner party or grill out, in lieu of a traditional dessert, surprise guests with a S’Mores Bar. Your friends and family will be delighted to reminises telling childhood stories about lighting marshmallows on fire at camp and they’ll love your fresh and sophisticated take on their childhood obsession. Yes, make sure you have the classic combination of marshmallow, Heresy’s Milk Chocolate and graham crackers on hand for the traditionalists, but think outside the box for your more adventurous friends. Everyone will have a blast making new and tasty creations.
Use white platters to pile together an assortment of graham crackers, cookies, English chocolate biscuits, marshmallows, chocolate, candy bars, caramel, Nutella, peanut butter, bananas and peanut butter cups. Plus you’ll need a campfire or grill and some sticks to roast the marshmallows on.
Provide guests with containers (like these adorable berry boxes) to take their selections to the bonfire and to use as to-go containers later in the evening.
Your guests will swoon over their creations and will forever talk about that evening of ooey-gooey, sticky hands, chocolate-on-your-face fun!
