Jacobs' birthday was this past week and I always make him a birthday cake. His favorite is yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Since we recently took a trip to New York, I have been inspired to make a cake that tastes like Magnolia Bakery's famous cupcakes. There is something so perfect about their cake's light sweet vanilla flavor and the buttery consistency of their icing.
As summer comes to a close, I'm already prepping to bring my herb pots in from the patio. It inspires me to make pesto, dry lavendar and infuse olive oil with rosemary. Here are a couple of my favorite herb inspired home accessories
I love the look and taste of cherries! Nothing is cuter than a bowl full of cherries. I received this adorable "Farmer's Market Basket" in aqua from a coworker as a gift and use it constantly! Find it HERE at Anthropologie.
I jumped at the chance to host a baby shower for one of my best friends and decided to celebrate her and her soon-to-be-son with a watercolor themed shower.
This is a great pound cake to give as a gift (just wrap in a tea cloth with a piece of kitchen twine or ribbon). I took it up to my in-laws farm just out of the oven and we couldn't get enough of it. The hint of lemon is refreshing, honey is sweet and the blueberries add a refreshing bite to the dense cake.
There is something that we can all make in our sleep—something that when guests are coming over, we can whip up in a jiffy and know that it will turn out perfectly every time. Chocolate chip cookies are my go-to, reliable, crowd-pleasing winner. I can make them with my eyes closed, have the recipe memorized (it's super easy) and always have the ingredients in my pantry.
