A Lovely Gift Idea for a New Mom
Over the weekend I was invited to a "Sip and See" for one of my friends and her brand new baby. What a lovely Southern tradition ... It's like a mini baby shower but instead of swooning over the baby gifts, you get to swoon over the actual baby. Lovely.
I decided to take her a untraditional "baby" gift. Instead of a gift for the baby, I wanted to get something for the mom.
This is such an incredibly special (and stressful) time in her life that I thought I would get her a little "new mommy" survival kit of sorts. Starting with Champagne. What better way to celebrate 9 long months of not drinking!? Sofia (from The Bottle Shop) is the perfect champagne to celebrate a baby girl—plus, it already comes perfectly wrapped in pink cellophane.
I painted the baby's first initial on a little cotton sack and filled it with goodies from The Iron Gate, Lulu and Whole Foods Market.
Everything she needs for a relaxing evening to herself—Champagne, bubble bath and bath salts, a candle and chocolate. Naturally.
I topped it off with a card with instructions ... "Babies require unconditional love ... and sleepless nights. It's time to take a moment for yourself. Light a candle, draw a bath and pour a glass of wine. You deserve it, mom."
